Syama Open Pit

The Syama Gold Mine, located in the south of Mali, West Africa approximately 30km from the Côte d’Ivoire border and 300km southeast of the capital Bamako, comprises the Syama Underground Mine and the Tabakoroni Open Pit Mine.

An interesting fact is that a large solar hybrid power station combined with battery, thermal and solar generation technologies was designed and built to deliver cost effective and environmentally friendly power. The new power station is expected to generate long term electricity cost savings of up to 40% and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 20%.
